Brief:

Alteration and Addition to the rear of a heritage Terrace house in Glebe.

 

The owners wanted to compliment the front of the house and extend the house in a style which would both sympathise with the existing house and age gracefully, whilst implementing sustainable design principles of natural ventilation, natural lighting, solar panels, hydronic heating and preservation of permeable landscape area.

Sustainability Features:

 

Passive Design: North facing clerestory windows for solar gain and added cross ventilation. Louvred windows and large opening south facing doors for improved cross ventilation to ground floor.

Renewable Energy: 3kW PV system by tondo solar with integrated smart metering system.  

Active Heating and Cooling: Radiator system throughout by Smart heat.  

Hot Water: 6 Star rated Gas instantaneous. 

Windows and Glazing: Timber double glazed, skylights, doors and windows. 

Building Materials: Rendered Insulated panel system for south facing walls. 

Landscape: Extension of green space - living roof above garage. Versiflex drainage cell over lightweight construction.
